Virtual reality is the term used to describe a three-dimensional, computer generated environment which can be explored and interacted with by a person. That person becomes part of this virtual world or is immersed within this environment and whilst there, is able to manipulate objects or perform a series of actions. It is the creation of a virtual environment presented to our senses in such a way that we experience it as if we were really there.
The technology is becoming cheaper and more widespread. Not only Zuckerberg is working on the democratization of VR. Due to the decline in the prices for the headsets, the new tracking possibilities and the social VR functionalities, a new wind is blowing through the VR landscape. We see already that different companies are using Virtual reality is not only used for gaming buth also for other use case like
HR: In the application phase, Virtual reality can be very practical as a visualization and what the job will involve for the applicant.
Sales: Huge machines such as pitchers are difficult to take to the customer as a demo. Virtual reality can pull the customer over the line thanks to a virtual demo.
After sales & remote support: To be able to recognize objects from a machine built by a customer and to provide remote support for them. Here also augmented reality can help.
